Week 8 - Emerging Existences
1. Where does the human end and the technological begin?

The line separating people and technology has never been distinct and unchanging. This boundary has always been ambiguous and flexible, continually changing as human autonomy and the characteristics of technical instruments interact and are defined. Mobile phones have evolved from being only communication devices to become external carriers that preserve those ephemeral remnants of our life for us. Artificial intelligence is a friend of creative inspiration rather than just a collection of cold code.
2. Are technologies restoring, enhancing, or reinventing our humanity?
In my opinion, all three aspects are present simultaneously, but they manifest themselves in different dimensions. In terms of restoration, technology is assisting us in compensating for the skills that we ought to have but were denied due to external circumstances. For example, speech recognition and translation tools have made it possible for people from diverse language backgrounds to communicate effectively, while hearing devices can help the deaf regain the ability to hear the world. The Internet has advanced to the point where knowledge acquisition is now at one's fingertips and information interchange is no longer limited by time or location. Artificial intelligence makes it simple for regular individuals to engage in creative endeavors, enabling human cognition and creativity to reach previously unheard-of levels. In terms of reformation, technology has produced new experience models that direct humanity's essence to reach a new degree of advancement.
